Another day another medical

Today we will go in for another medical treatment under anesthesia.  This makes number three since being home.  I am sad that she needs to have another IV line.  I cannot stand those things and she hates the needles.  She is terrified.  She is strong in the other aspects of the procedures but hates blood being drawn or a needle put in.  I can NOT blame her.  A few years back I had the IV from H..L!  The lady went in missed tried again missed couldnt get it called a friend no luck retry somewhere else and eventually got it!  I was like ENOUGH already!!! Those needles are the WORST part of the procedure.

Now they had told me when they scheduled it - it would supposedly be a quick sedation via liquid.  Now I learn it is via an IV needle.  Such a strong girl but I will not blame her for being a little cranky!  hang in there baby girl this should be it for this year for surgery.  Even though next year we will have another big one for her cleft palate again!

If you havent had a chance to see my friend Amy's beautiful new daughter T, check her out here on September 27 with her proud papa

Isnt she just beautiful!

YEAH another Ukrainian princess will soon be heading home!

sleep in?

Why is it that children can sleep and not want to get up during school days, but when the weekend comes it is the complete opposite.

On Saturday I heard loud music coming from the boys rooms.  It was very dark out so I was like hmmm.  Then I saw the clock (what is that correct?) 5:30 am!!!  Now this wasnt just a soft child's lullaby playing, nope they were playing Black Eyed Peas- My Hump!  Oh my.
And they were sitting on their beds counting their money from their piggy banks.  So I sternly said get back in bed and lay quitely until at least 630.  Well by this time Oksana had awoken becuase she heard me I guess and the boys.  So now she wanted up too.  So I put her in my bed but now the dogs wanted to go out... anyway so much for a little extra snooze on the weekends.

Some other highlights included mom getting a night with just the girls!  Yeah and the Bengals beat the Steelers (that is always a plus).

I have to admit the best part was this morning when I dropped of Oksana at the babysitter and she turned and gave me the biggest pucker kiss!  That is what it is all about.

Speech Therapy

Yesterday I took O to her third speech therapy appointment.  Her therapist is Vitaly's former therapist so that is a great thing.  So she saw Ms. A and pointed to her and smiled and waved.  Ms. A said Hi Oksana and took her hand and I said let's give it a try- in other words I would let her go back alone (Whenever I am in the room she gets distracted and wants me to hold her and play in my purse etc..).  So Ms. A asked her do you want to go with me and O shook her head yes.  Then she said to wave bye to mommy and she did and left.  The others in the room started to giggle because it was very cute.  Then one mom said she is still walking down the hall and has only looked back once!  Yeah I thought.

So I sat down and started to leaf through a magazine for about 15 minutes, when the same mom looked at  me like uh-oh....

and there she was tears streaming down her fast and a look of panic on her face.  Ms. A said they had done a lot when O looked over at the chair and it must have registered mommy wasnt there!!!  And then she started to cry.  So I went back with them and  held O on my lap.

Aftward we went to the soccerfields to watch the boys.  Nikolai loves to be the goalie and he is good at it too!  Vitaly looked like he never stopped running.  Wow these kids have energy- they came home and for a snacke they ate a bag of popcorn, and then Vitaly finished off a jar of pickles and the rest of the cheese puffs with a glass of milk!  I gained two pounds just by watching!

New Photos

We added a few photos from  the weekend, where we spent an afternoon with some good friends- watching the Bengals win and playing with the kids.  They have a hot tub which the kids really enjoyed!  Luckily our friends had a digital (as ours is still broken) so they took the pics for us.  Thank you!

anteater

Some people may call this an Anteater

This morning my darling Nikolai said:  "Look mom it's an Antsucker!"

Happy Birthday..You are TWO

Happy Birthday to my dear daughter who turns two today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We celebrated her second birthday with many friends and family at a picnic on Sunday.  She loved her cupcake and treasured every bite.

Yesterday this brave little girl returned to the hospital to get her ear tubes inserted.  She was a strong little girl until she thought they were going to poke her finger, but luckily they did not.  After they gave her the calming/sleeping meds, it was actually very entertaining as she had a loopy happy smile and kept giggling as they wheeled her away.

They returned her about a half hour later and she was very mad.  She wouldnt let anyone touch her except me then when I touched her she got mad.  So I tried to put her clothes on and she refused to have that occur.  Then she wanted her drink, but as soon as I gave it to her she threw it across the room.  So anyway the scene was not pretty as she was one tired and mad little girl.  I finally got her home and she slept for four hours straight.  She doesnt seem to have any side effects so this latest operation has been a success.  They said hearing can begin to improve within 24 hours of the surgery.  I am excited to see the results with her speech.  It probably will be the difference between hearing thing when your ear needs popped (and you cannot get it to pop) and after it does.  What a relief!

Happy Birthday Oksana we love you!!

ITS ALIVE

YIKES
It is still alive
One deprived oxygen seeking/fish food craving shrimp is ALIVE
Yikes
I thought they were all dead and disposed of two and contents and left one that N thought was "still alive" for a day

When N wasnt looking I thought perhaps I might dispose of fishy number two

So today I went up to collect the remains (what little a shrimp has) and it was YIKES moving around looking for something..

Of course it was food, so I rushed it to the kitchen ER for some Chef Fishstuff and it sucked it down like it was... starving...
oh my.

Now I am a woman that cannot throw away a dead plant because I might kill it.  I do not even kill bugs unless they are evil
roaches (hope to never have them) or large overgrown inside spiders.  Otherwise you are lucky to live in my hood because I do not kill.

So to have this sad almost dead shrimp to nurse back to life is a nightmare.  I prefer them with fur.

On another note Vitaly lost his first tooth.  His other tooth is almost grown behind it so that is sort of freaky.  Wish I had my digital but I got one with the disposable camera at least

Things that freak me out the most:

Crayons
Wood pencils ((without being sharp or nubby erasers extra nasty and moves to number one))
airplanes
Passing semi trucks
something scary in a shoe (aka bug)
clowns
Cardboard
Bridges
Losing a tooth
Chalk
heights
Clothes that once fit that now no longer fit
Roadkill
Vomit
Poopy diapers or pants

So in other words glad my DH can handle the above freaky things for me

I am tagging Jane  http://benandmaggie.spaces.live.com/ to see what things freak her out :)

ghost shrimps

First I must mention our friends traveling to Ukraine right now are doing excellent and that is great to hear!

Also, I must tell them thanks for the little ghost shrimps!  They gave these little shrimp as presents to the kids.  We were able to get them home from Indiana in their water filled bowls without losing one or two.

The boys were so excited about them.  Nikolai named his fishy one and fishy two (one was O's but she didnt care) and Vitaly named his Fat Pea (who knows where that came from).  They were so happy and put them on their dressers and fed them and talked to them and then they were...well lets just say no more.   Anyway the boys were upset and I told them perhaps we could get them both a fish instead.  I hope they last longer then two days!  Even I felt bad these poor little things died so fast!

Nikolai began his third year of preschool on Tuesday, and Vitaly has been doing okay so far in the first grade.  Both boys are on their own teams and learning soccer and Nikolai learned to ride a two- wheel bike last weekend- way to go!

This weekend we are planning on a small birthday for Oksana's second birthday.  I can't beleive my baby girl will already be two-

Lots and lots of prayers needed

Tomorrow starts the journey of one of the first (and should have been over already) families back to Ukraine as Ukraine reopens for international adoptions.  I am so excited as http://starbuckslovingmommy.blogspot.com/ finally returns to Ukraine to get their daughter.  I met this wonderful couple when they were newbies looking to adopt their first child- and gave them M's information so that they could adopt his sibling.  Now we all know how wonderful M has done as facilitator for my adoptions and she worked extra hard to ensure they would adopt this precious girl.  Anyway their dreams have been answered as they finally travel to get their awesome daughter and are finally a forever family.  yesterday we went across state lines and met them for their son's birthday.  Luckily Amy had a camera that works and she got some shots of Princess Oksana which I have added.

So tonight and beyond I ask for prayers for Amy and her wonderful family as they journey to baby T!!!!

WE LOVE YOU XXOO!!!
