Three YearsThree years ago the NAC (or National Adoption Center) in Kyiv Ukraine shut it's doors to the adoption general public for the last time.
A new era began and the SDA was the commanding center.
We were one of the last families, on that day, to ever sit in the infamous "scooby doo" hallway.
We were also the last family to ever see a profile of a beautiful CL/CP little girl that had been available for over two months.
We were the lucky ones that day. I saw families the day before crying as they left without a referral, in desperation, that they never got a child under two.
Yet the whole time, Oksana's file lay waiting for a family to pick her. But, her picture wasn't perfect so they chose not to look. Thank God for that!
We chose to look at the special needs children and we found a diamond.
Perhaps this is where this journey ends. I am still debating. I hope I have convinced others to look for the diamond in the rocks as that has been my passion for the forgotten in Ukraine.
Peace and blessings

The Door
So I saw this awesome poem and just had to post it although Poem's are not my thing. I will update the blogs this weekend. Thanks to all that still hang around to see.
Sad but true this poem....
The Door
Don’t open the door For behind the door is a world few can imagine It is a world full of things, most don’t want to see For behind the door are the forgotten ones.
Don’t open the door What you might see are the bodies and empty souls of children Lying in fright and the boredom, that surrounds their existence Tied to a private jail, that others call a bed.
Don’t open the door If you can’t see the children, Than you, like most, won’t have to know they are there And you won’t have to remember their cries.
Don’t open the door Go on to your dinner plans Go to your warm homes Go to your waiting loved ones.
Please open the door The littlest one cried As, she watched the food past by And, cried for someone to care.
Please open the door The weakest one pleaded As, he spent his last breath Before, closing his eyes and fading away to the night sky.
Please open the door The newest one said Afraid of the dark Wondering when his mom might return, and why she left him there.
Please open the door The happy lady and man said As light flooded into the room, and the sun shone bright for one And the little boy turned and watched the door finally close behind him. mom is having a girl!Mom is having a GIRL!
Well, not really, but Oksana thinks so!
She told the Nurse yesterday that "I have two brothers and a baby sister!
She is not here yet but I have one! My mommy said so right mommy?"
Nurse looks at my belly and probably thinks this is true...
I look at my belly and think too many pizzas!
Then I look at kind Nurse and wink that "perhaps it is not true"
How can one look at the desire in a four year old's eyes and give her doubts?
I didnt say a baby but I did say a sister but not yet today :) March is in the airMarch might come in like a lion (espcially for those in the NE of the United States right now-Yikes- heavy snow storms)
but tonight I look over and see my lamb...My daughter
Who knew that March three years ago was my door to my daughter... A little girl available to others since January of that year but ignored by other families.
Why... because she was considered special needs.
Yep she is special and darn cute too!
I hope others see the cute baby lambs of March with maybe a special care too! :) |
