We are in OdessaSorry for the long delay in our whereabouts. We had our
appointment at the NAC (national adoption center) on Thursday.
We were offered files of little girls with various physical
disabilities. We were eventually shown a file of a little
girl who was very healthy and smart and 19 months old. We chose
to go see her. We traveled last nite for almost twelve hours by
train. This morning they brought into the Directors office a
walking, bright blue eyed, blonde haired little girl, whose only
special need is that she needs cleft palatte repair. We were told
all about her and she is right on target in height/weight and very
smart and very shy. All very very good signs. We took her
to the Oral Surgeons who have decided to do the first step next week of
her surgery. We will finish upon return home. We cannot
believe how pretty she is and how healthy except for the cleft
repair. Oh and she is potty trained too! We do not know how long until court. We also do not have her name decided on as of yet. We do know she will be in the hospital for one week following her surgery. We will have more time tomorrow to post more right now we are very tired and hungry. Please send us emails and let us know what is going on. We also apologize if we cannot email everyone back directly, but we do appreciate all of the support. :Love to all Leanna, Larry and our daughter Surprise- We are on our waySurprise
We are on our way to Ukraine today. THat is right we are in the JFK airport awaiting for our flght to Paris than Kiev.
How did this happen, well....
About a month ago after talking things over and know Ukraine was still accepting dossiers for children with certain physical special needs, we thought we might see what children were available. When we were adopting Nikolai there was a beautiful groupa playmate that we adored. We were astonished to later learn this bright and outgoing and FAST little girl was missing the lower part of one of her legs. That did not deter us, but we decided later that two at much might be too hard and if she was still availble in the futre we would look into adopting her perhaps. She was later adopted by another family.
So after thinking it over we decided we would apply and see what might happen. We were approved last week and got the call on Sunday to be in Ukraine on Wednesday. A whooping 48 hours. So anyone that believes the impossible is not possible has not had to make all arrangements, pack, work and get on a plane two days later.
So here we are... Another life chapter has begun.
We are so sad to leave the boys behind that we almost backed out. But we know in the long term they will be fine and they will have lots of fun in our abscence.
We will post again tomorrow.
We must also prepare everyone that the NAC will not be seeing anymore families after March 30th. So if we do not find a child, we will be returning home.
Love
Leanna and Larry- heading to Ukraine |
