We had sat down for dinner.

 

V says "mom you are supposed to take me to be in the play tonight!"

 

I say "honey there is no play"

 

V states "Mom there is too and I am to be there!"

Dinner being cleaned up, kids finished with baths and in pjs, V begins homework

 

I look at the notes from the teacher:

 

.....V has practiced very hard for the PTO production tonight at 7:00pm, with the second graders!  I hope he can make it!

 

I am like "What?????""

 

I look at the clock it reads 6:52.  I look at V , he has on his pjs and has wet hair.

 

I say "Vitaly get your clothes ON!"  On a side thought I look at Nik and say "and you too!  We have to get to the school!"

 

Luckily, we made it just before the PTO meeting was over and the second graders marched in for their wonderful production "Proud to be an American!"

 

Mom Lesson Learned regarding school age productions-be ready for the unexpected!!

Random This and That:

 

How can gas go up .30$ in less than 1.5 hours?    Monday I took the kids to play at an indoor "fast food" play area, and on the way I passed a gas station and it cost 2.75$ per gallon.  A pretty darn good price.  I came back not more than 1.5 hours later and it was 3.05$! 

 

Why do my kids always have to write their names on my car, when it is needing a wash?

 

Why does it rain or snow the next day, everytime I DO wash my van?

 

Is American Idol showing try-out auditions getting really "lame?"  Come on, we all know the freaks want to be on TV, so why do does AI let them?

 

Did you know I heard that they work out for seven- eight hours per day on the show the "Biggest Loser?" 

 

Today walking my dogs in our neighborhood, I saw a falcon chase a small bird into our neighbor's garage, and they both flew in!  Another good reason to keep your garage door shut.

 

I braided Oksana's hair for the first time.  She proudly told everyone that noticed that her mommy had "tied her hair."

 

How come I always seem to take a picture with my cell phone, when I am just trying to call out?

 

And last,  Why do I have trouble staying up past 10:00 PM anymore?  GOOD NIGHT!

 

 

I guess I started out the New Year as a blog slacker!  I do have some BIG changes slated ahead for the blog for 2008...

 

I have attached some pictures of Christmas Eve (Thanks to our wonderful friends Rae Lynn and Mark for  their Chad Johnson Teeth Grills, Fart sounder, and box of pranks that have kept us on our toes!), Christmas Day and a Roller Skating Birthday with a family friend. 

 

Oksana was a natural with her long legs and the roller skates and didn't want any help as she made her way around.  She did keep calling it "Ice Skating" which was very cute.

 

Now for a bad mommy moment:

I had found a pair of jeans that I did not recognize in Nikolai's drawer. I figured they were from some clothes my Sister In Law had sent him.  They were a size four and fit him excellent, although I did find them a bit odd.  Well, yesterday he came to me and said "Mom, why did you make me wear GIRL pants"?  I said what girl pants?  He said these SEE!  And sure enough he showed me the inside elastic and they had pretty little flowers all around!  Oops!  I guess they were some pants given to us for Oksana.  (I can't believe they wear the same size).  Does this make me a bad mom sending my boy to school in girl's pants???

 

Now for my hopes for 2008:

 

Yes, I will lose twenty pounds by the Spring

Yes, I will excercise again at least four times per week minimum

Yes, I will find more me time

Yes, I will get that promotion (crossing fingers and toes)
